Business Style: How to Wear the Red Bleeding Heart Pendant at Work

Business Style: How to Wear the Bleeding Heart Pendant at Work (Red Pendant Edition)

We’re on part 4 of my Business Style series, starring the red Bleeding Heart Pendant! If your workplace is too conservative for the black version of this pendant (featured in part 3), let me show you how to wear the red pendant instead. Even in its less obviously provocative version, the Bleeding Heart Pendant makes a discreet statement thanks to the shimmering blood drips made of deep red Swarovski crystals!

To ensure that we’re on the same page, I’m following the dress code definitions from this article on moneycrashers.com. Your corporation’s particular dress code will likely be somewhat different.

As usual, we’ll start with a Casual work outfit, then move up through Business Casual to Business Professional.

We’re on part 3 of my Business Style series! If you missed them, Part 1 featured my Carmilla Necklace, Part 2 my Lucy Necklace! As a discreet goth statement piece that can be worn with most necklines, the Bleeding Heart pendant is very versatile. A black heart is sure to invite some curiosity, so if your workplace is more conservative and you don’t want to attract too much notice, you can wear the red version instead. It will be featured in the next post in this series.

Repulsion to Desire: Alternative Valentine’s Day Thoughts

Repulsion is the sentry that guards the gate to all that we most desire.—Salvador Dalí. Square quote graphic by ChrisCrafting

Not all of us celebrate Valentine’s Day—whether they are in a relationship or not—so instead of your typical kitschy-sweet Valentine’s Day message, here’s something a little darker to tease your brain. It is a quote by Salvador Dalí that you might be familiar with: “Repulsion is the sentry that guards the gate to all that we most desire.”

Did it ever happen to you that something you were at first repulsed by soon captured your fascination/desire? Or did you, like some do, coughSherlockcough skip straight to the fascination/desire stage when it came to something most others find repulsive? There’s nothing wrong with either of these reactions. Of course sometimes repulsion is a valid warning sign and should be heeded. But other times, it truly does point to something (or someone) we desire, but are afraid to admit to.

Just a few thoughts for you and me to ponder this Valentine’s Day.

The Inspiration for The Blood-Drenched Lace Collection: Why Vampires?

The Inspiration for my Blood-Drenched Lace Collection, or: Why Vampires?

Why did vampires become the inspiration for ChrisCrafting’s inaugural jewelry collection?

Blame Dracula

I had always liked fantasy, sci-fi, and supernatural stories, but my fascination with vampires truly started sometime in the late 80s, when I saw the 1979 Dracula starring Frank Langella on TV. Need I say more? Frank Langella. As Dracula. I mean, look at the poster! I think it was his eyes that undid me. That intense look really made it easy to believe people could fall under Dracula’s spell. As well, unlike so many other Dracula movies, this one overall stayed fairly true to Bram Stoker’s novel. (See featured image.) Langella’s Dracula is, to this day, my favorite version of the Count.
