Happy Mother’s Day 2018!

Happy Mother’s Day 2018! May you be spoiled rotten, even if that only means to have a blessed uninterrupted hour or two to yourself to indulge your Benedict Cumberbatch* obsession. 😉

In celebration of this day, I want to share with you a few pictures from the Mother’s Day photo shoot I did with my daughter a few weeks ago. You may have seen the pictures on my Instagram already, but even if you have—take another look because I’m posting them in full size here so you’ll get to enjoy more of each picture!

Being a parent is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and at the same time the most rewarding. Getting to share things we like with our littles and being lucky enough for them to respond with enthusiasm is one of the best things about this journey. So considering her parentage, it’s no wonder our daughter has a liking for monsters and scary stories! It shows in her ever growing library too: Dracula, Frankenstein’s Creature, witches, and other ghoulish things are frequent subjects of our comfy read-aloud sessions.

Being a parent often makes your heart bleed—for or sometimes because of your child. (And the same applies the other way around…) But the great moments that make my heart swell with love, joy, and pride make it all worth it. Watching this little human grow and develop is simply amazing, and she is holding my ❤heart🖤 firmly in her surprisingly strong grip.
PS: My daughter’s vampire 🦇 bear is called Polidori.

Sometimes it’s fun to just sit down and play following my daughter’s whims. She has an amazing imagination and comes up with the most fascinating stories!
And yes, that is a skeleton frog I’m holding. As soon as she saw it while Halloween decoration shopping at Target two years ago, she insisted that she wanted it—and she hardly ever asks us to buy her anything. Though she occasionally used to hide the frog away because it was “too scary”, she also kept pulling it out again and again to play with.

One of the best things about being a parent? Cuddles with your child. There’s nothing quite like it!
